The prestigious Women in Wales Charity Luncheon returned in 2026 for its fifth consecutive year since relaunching post-Covid in 2022. Since then, the event has raised well over £125,000 for its chosen Welsh children’s charities and community projects.
The event saw the return of the popular Hidden Gem Raffle, generously sponsored by Laings Jewellery, alongside the table raffle, for which every table received a delightful Welsh produce and drinks hamper, kindly donated by a range of local Welsh businesses. These complemented the traditional raffle, silent auction, and renowned live auction, hosted by Rupert Moon, who returned by popular demand and once again delivered a hilarious yet energetic performance.
Guests were treated to a live Q&A session with Georgie Grasso, winner of The Great British Bake Off 2024, who joined host Ruth Dodsworth OBE on stage. Georgie captivated the audience with her warmth, enthusiasm, and candid account of her journey, from putting her own spin on classic bakes to winning one of the nation’s most beloved television competitions.
The committee was delighted to present donations of £16,000 to the Wales Air Ambulance Baby Pod Infrastructure Project and £7,000 to the Carmarthen Youth Project. Both charities received significantly more funding than had initially been anticipated by the committee.
This additional support had a meaningful impact on the Wales Air Ambulance Charity, enabling the organisation to complete the entire purchase, fitting, and procurement process for the Baby Pod infrastructure in one of its helicopters. The donation was also incredibly well received by the Carmarthen Youth Project, which, like many charities, is facing the challenges of rising living costs and increasing operational expenses while continuing to provide vital services for local young people. A further £1,000 was donated to MPCT in recognition of its support and assistance on the day.
The formal cheque presentation took place during a drinks reception generously hosted by Pyle Garden Centre.
