Women in Wales, a women-led charity committed to transforming the lives of children across Wales, has raised £24,000 at its annual fundraising luncheon this year.
The total amount surpassed the grant requests submitted by this year’s beneficiary children’s charities, highlighting the unwavering support and dedication from sponsors and guests.
Each year, Women in Wales hosts a luxurious afternoon luncheon featuring live entertainment, raffles and auctions to raise vital funds for a number of children’s charities.
This year’s luncheon took place at Holland House Hotel & Spa on the 24th April with over 300 guests in attendance. The event was hosted by Women in Wales Ambassador, Ruth Dodsworth OBE and featured a guest speech from Georgina Grasso, winner of the Great British Bakeoff 2024. Guests also enjoyed an energetic live-auction led by Rupert Moon, and wonderful entertainment from Britain’s Got Talent finalists Han & Fran.
This remarkable outcome also marked a momentous achievement and reaffirmed the importance of collective community support, proving that an event filled with enjoyment can also create a lasting impact for worthy causes.
The annual event was kindly sponsored by JCP Solicitors, Castle Dairies and LHP as Gold Sponsors, Women Angels of Wales, Brewhouse Group, Lyon Bowe Solicitors and Love Lagree as Silver Sponsors, Laings as the Raffle Sponsor, Purple Dog as the Drinks Sponsor and Porsche Centre Newport as Print Sponsor.
The chosen charities received this transformational news at a cheque presentation, which took place at Pyle Garden Centre in Bridgend. This was a heartfelt moment, with many tears shed from the overwhelming generosity.
Judith Major, Chair of Women in Wales, presented each charity with the donations of £16,000 to Wales Air Ambulance, £7,000 to DRMZ- Carmarthen Youth Project, and a further £1,000 to MCPT in recognition of their continued support during the Luncheon.
Judith Major- Chair of Women in Wales –
“We have been truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests and supporters. Seeing the reactions of our chosen charities at the cheque presentation evening when they learned how much had been raised was incredibly moving and emotional. It was a wonderful reminder of the difference these donations make and the positive and significant impact they have on our communities here in Wales
Emma Moore, Grants and Trust Manager for Wales Air Ambulance said;
“We were in utter amazement at the generosity of Women in Wales and their outstanding £16,000 donation. This amount will make a real difference to the care we deliver across Wales. We are enormously grateful to everyone whose support made this possible.
The money is truly transformational, and with the donation going towards our BabyPod infrastructure project for the helicopters, it will make a real difference. Diolch! “
